Auto and Worker’s Compensation Insurance companies are paying closer attention to the documentation submitted by physicians. They are specifically looking for mechanisms of trauma or injury. In other words, they want to know if the injuries reported by their insured or worker, is causally related to the auto accident or on the job injury. Pre-existing condition is a term that the insurance companies are commonly basing their denial of payments because no documentation exists to correlate the symptoms with the mechanism of injury.
Dr. Arkfeld has a Masters of Science degree in Biomechanical Trauma, and has been an expert witness in both Auto and Worker’s Compensation cases. He has provided biomechanical analysis as to the mechanism of trauma in these cases, which has stopped IME physicians hired by the insurance companies to deny further care. He can assist both treating physicians and attorneys in preparing the case file for trial. This is best accomplished with detailed documentation starting at the initial visit, and continuing with each daily note, finally ending with the discharge examination.
Dr. Arkfeld can be retained for onsite office evaluation of your Auto and Worker’s Compensation Files, and provide training to physicians on how to decrease your patients being sent for IME’s and file reviews.
Additional training includes the following:
- Clinical Assessment Outcome Tools
- Computerized Range of Motion and Manual Muscle Testing Equipment
- Implementing Functional Capacity Evaluations, Physical Performance Testing, and Post-Offer Employment Screenings into your office.
- Adding low-tech rehabilitation to your current treatment program.
Other services include performing audits on current billing and coding procedures along with a review of all documentation. Recommendations on correct verbiage and the use of clinical assessment outcomes such as the Oswestry and Neck Disability will be given.
